How to Go Green During Pregnancy

Instructions
  1. Have a positive attitude about going green. Many people make the decision to go green because it is the current trend. Unless you really want to make the lifestyle changes that are required to go green, you are never going to be able to do it. Be enthusiastic about making eco-friendly changes to your lifestyle and you will be more likely to do it.
  2. Eat healthier foods. Organic foods are a great choice if you can afford them. If not, try to increase the amount of fruits and vegetables that you eat. Meat, animal byproducts and processed foods are probably going to play some role in your diet. It is best to avoid eating these foods in excessive amounts, however. A well-balanced diet, which consists mainly of fruits and vegetables, is very healthy.
  3. Read labels when using personal care products. Some of the different products that you should watch out for include hairspray, hair dye, deodorant and perfume. If most of the ingredients are unfamiliar, then it is a good idea to choose organic or herbal versions. In any case, it is important to be aware of what you are putting into or on your body.
  4. Choose eco-friendly cleaning products. Regular cleaning products are known to contain very high amounts of chemicals. Since eco-friendly products are designed for people who lead green lifestyles, you will not need to worry about the harmful effects that they can have on the body and the environment. Even though you may slack off when it comes to cleaning while you are pregnant, choosing the right products can make a huge difference.
  5. Purchase a hybrid car if you can afford one. Since new mothers often trade in their old cars for a new car that is equipped for a baby, this is the perfect time to choose a car that is friendly for the environment. You will also be able to save money on gas, which may be necessary when you have a child to take care of.
Tips & Warnings

  • Encourage your family members to go green with you.

  • Pay attention to your health. If you feel sick after making lifestyle changes, reconsider. -Jody Morse
